Bruichladdich’s Yellow Submarine resurfaces

Islay distillery Bruichladdich brought back its Yellow Submarine whisky as part of its 25th anniversary celebrations this year.
Rémy Cointreau-owned Bruichladdich came out of mothballs in 2001, and the Yellow Submarine series was born from a mixup in the early 2000s, when US Military Intelligence mistakenly flagged the distillery as a potential site for weapons of mass destruction. “In the early days we didn’t have big budgets or slick marketing; we had a tight-knit team, a recovering old distillery, and a bright yellow submarine parked outside,” said chief executive Douglas Taylor. “Bringing Yellow Submarine back for our 25th anniversary is about honouring that spirit.”
The 2026 edition follows Whisky of Mass Distinction: Yellow Submarine (2005) and Yellow Submarine II: The Legend Resurfaces (2018). It is bottled at 54.2% ABV and priced at £100 (US$134).
Tarquin’s intros Cornish Apple & Elderflower Gin

Cornish producer Tarquin’s Gin released an apple and elderflower expression.
The gin marks the second summer release for the distillery after chili mango, and was decided through a public vote carried out with thousands of fans nationwide in the UK. The limited edition gin infuses crisp Cornish apples and delicate elderflower blossom. Bottled at 38% ABV, it offers notes of apples and elderflower, with a touch of juniper on the palate. It is inspired by the Cornish hedgerows, orchards, and coastal meadows.
Tarquin’s Cornish Apple & Elderflower Gin is available for a limited time on the brand’s website, as well as in Tarquin’s Gin Shops located in Cornwall and Devon. It retails for £39.95 (US$46.50).
Elixir Distillers breathes new life into Tormore

Elixir Distillers has released its first permanent range of single malts for Tormore following its acquisition of the Scotch whisky brand in 2022 from Pernod Ricard.
The range features three expressions: Tormore ‘Timeless’ (43% ABV/ £41.95/US$55.44); Tormore 12 Year Old (46% ABV/£54.95); and Tormore 16 Year Old Sherry Cask (46.8% ABV/£79.95). The range is designed to showcase the distillery’s fruit-forward character, which under its previous owner was primarily used to produce spirit for blended whiskies.
“It was a spirit I really respected. I knew we had a distillery that could produce good, fruity liquid, but it wasn’t optimised,” Elixir Distillers cofounder Sukhinder Singh told The Spirits Business. “I knew we could make something longterm that was a lot bigger; we could enrich it.”
Luxardo takes a caffeine break with new liqueur

Italian producer Luxardo released a decaffeinated espresso liqueur.
A US-exclusive release, the liqueur contains 0.4mg of caffeine, and has an ABV of 27%. It is designed to remove caffeine from espresso cocktails and create new opportunities for enjoying coffee-based drinks. It is made with decaffeinated Arabica beans sourced from Brazil, Vietnam, and Uganda, which are roasted and ground, then infused for 25 days to replicate the flavour of freshly pulled espresso shots.
Matteo Luxardo, global export director at Luxardo, said: “Creating a decaffeinated version of our espresso liqueur allowed us to stay true to tradition and our quality standards while expanding the ways that people can enjoy espresso cocktails to their liking in a modern context.” Luxardo Decaf Espresso Liqueur is available in the US for US$29.99.
Bayou Rum relaunches with new recipe

Stoli Group relaunched its Bayou Rum brand in the US with an ‘improved’ blend and new packaging.
“For the first time in Bayou Rum history, we are unveiling an enhanced recipe for our two flagship expressions: Bayou White and Bayou Spiced,” said Reiniel Vicente Diaz, the second-generation master distiller who has guided the distillery’s liquid profile since 2013.
The relaunch marked a move away from a heavy 100% pot-still spirit to a lighter, more mixable blend of copper potstill distillate and column-still spirit. The new rums are designed to enhance everyday cocktails like Mojitos, Daiquiris, and Highballs. The rums are available for US$15-US$16 per 750ml bottle.

The official gin of The Open, Ben Lomond, celebrated the golf major’s 154th edition with a special release.
The Open is due to take place this year at Royal Birkdale in Southport, England, from 12 to 19 July. As The Open’s official gin, the Loch Lomond Group-owned brand creates a limited edition expression for the championship each year.
