Bayou Rum receives makeover

Stoli Group has begun production of its redesigned Bayou Rum portfolio, launching an ‘improved’ blend and new packaging.

Bayou Rum’s reimagined core range debuts in the US this month

Produced at the Louisiana Spirits Distillery in Lacassine, Bayou Rum celebrates the revival of the rich heritage of American rum-making.

“For the first time in Bayou Rum history, we are unveiling an enhanced recipe for our two flagship expressions: Bayou White and Bayou Spiced,” said Reiniel Vicente Diaz, second-generation master distiller who has guided the distillery’s liquid profile since 2013.

“Bigger flavour. Bolder character. Same authentic American spirit. These new releases are the first to come off our state-of-the-art bottling line, reflecting faster production and greater capacity without compromising quality.”

Diaz describes the relaunch as “a true celebration of American craftsmanship and innovation”, coinciding with the US’ 250th anniversary and Bayou Rum’s 15th anniversary.

The relaunch marks a shift away from a heavy 100% pot-still spirit to a lighter, more mixable blend of copper pot-still distillate and column-still spirit.

Its dual-distillation approach is said to preserve the rich texture and delicate molasses depth of traditional rum while introducing a brighter and cleaner profile.

The new rums are designed to enhance everyday cocktails like Mojitos, Daiquiris, and Highballs.

While maintaining elements of its classic label, the revamped Bayou bottle features a sleek, modern design, with a subtly rounded shape.

The updated portfolio will be available in the US this month, with a new ‘competitive’ price of US$15-US$16 for a 750ml bottle.

Initial shipments will begin in mid-to-late June across Louisiana and nearby Southern regions, with plans for national and global expansion.

In other Stoli Group news, two US entities of the business was placed under trustee control earlier this year. However, this did not impact Bayou’s operations.
