Above Board hosts The Cloakroom takeover
By Miona MadsenThe Cloakroom Bar, from Montreal, Canada, is dropping into Melbourne’s Above Board for a one-night-only take over in February.

Taking place on 10 February at Above Board in Melbourne, a cocktail bar located in the city’s Collingwood neighbourhood, the takeover is split into two intimate seatings at 6pm and 8pm, each lasting 1.5 hours.
According to Above Board, guests can expect ‘world-class hospitality, exceptional drinks, and socialising’.
The visiting bar, The Cloakroom from Montreal, was recognised as one of the top three bars in Canada by Canada’s 100 Best in 2004.
Nestled in Montreal’s Golden Square Mile, it opened in 2015 under beverage director Andrew Whibley.
The walk-in-only, 25-seat venue appeals to guests with a distinctive no-menu approach and extensive selection of rare and vintage spirits. It has become known for its ‘cutting-edge’ cocktails and an inviting, intimate atmosphere.
Above Board harbours a similar approach with an intimate ambience and no reservations.
Above Board, established in 2016 by Hayden Lambert and Manu Potoi, has a capacity of 16 people at a time.
The takeover at Above Board is presented in collaboration with Michter’s whiskey and Los Siete Misterios, a range of mezcals made using artisanal production techniques with provenance and tradition.
Tickets are now available on the bar’s website for AU$85 (US$53), including three cocktails crafted by The Cloakroom team.
Last month, The Spirits Business reported on the possible late-night opening hour changes in Montreal and how the proposal will affect the on-trade.
