Cazcabel is leading independent Tequila outside US
By Nicola CarruthersIWSR data has revealed that Cazcabel is the number-one independent premium Tequila brand outside the US and Mexico.

Cazcabel revealed the new ranking based on IWSR data to December 2023.
It also claims to have achieved the highest growth rate by an independent Tequila brand over the past five years, soaring by a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 188% from 2019 to 2023.
The growth potential for Cazcabel could be huge if it can achieve similar success in the US and Mexico – the category’s biggest markets.
Available in 50 markets, Cazcabel recently expanded its presence in Asia after entering Taiwan and Singapore. For the fourth quarter of 2024, the brand is set to launch in South Africa and China, where agave spirits sales grew by 40% last year (IWSR data).
The brand is also available in European markets such as Germany, Spain, Italy, Greece, Poland, Portugal, Sweden and Ireland.
In December 2022, Cazcabel became the UK’s leading 100% agave Tequila in the on-trade.
Cazcabel is now aiming to accelerate its growth in the States, which represents 55% of the Tequila category’s volumes. The brand has been seeded in the market for the past 12 months.
Cazcabel has also expanded operations in its home state of Jalisco, Mexico, with the transition to a new £37 million (US$46.7m) distillery which has increased production capacity and supports the company’s ambition to boost growth globally.
The brand also moved into the global travel retail channel this year, which accounts for 758,000 nine-litre cases of Tequila sold internationally, Cazcabel said. The Tequila category in travel retail was the only spirits segment to have recovered to pre-pandemic levels in 2022, when it grew by 95% in volume.
Cazcabel’s Blanco, Reposado and Coffee Tequila liqueur are stocked in airports in Cyprus, Portugal, Dublin and the US, via the brand’s partnership with Duty Free Global.
The brand is an additive-free Tequila made with Blue Weber agave grown on Cazcabel’s family estate for a minimum of six years.
