Cazcabel is UK’s leading 100% agave Tequila
By Nicola CarruthersCGA has revealed Cazcabel is the UK’s biggest-selling 100% agave Tequila in the on-trade, having grown by 857% in the last three years.
Cazcabel cited data from CGA in September 2022 that revealed the brand is the leading premium Tequila by both volume and value in the UK on-trade. It was also the fastest growing in the UK on-trade, taking the top position in the premium price segment to overtake Olmeca Altos and El Jimador.
Available in more than 30 countries, the brand said it had added more than £38 million (US$46.3m) in value to the Tequila and non-cream liqueurs category in the UK.
Cazcabel recently revealed plans to invest US$37m in a new distillery and brand home in Atotonilco El Alto, Jalisco.
In 2022, the brand debuted in more than 10 new markets and will enter several new countries including the US.
Cazcabel said it has seen growth in developed Tequila markets such as Australia, New Zealand, Sweden and the UK, alongside developing markets in Central Europe.
In the last year, the brand has shipped more than 200,000 cases outside of the Americas and is on course to sell more than a million cases per year globally by 2025.
Cazcabel said it has championed mixability since its launch in 2014, including long serves such as the Tequila and tonic, and Tequila, lime and soda.
The brand noted that the Paloma cocktail experienced a 157% increase in Google searches this year. The Paloma combines Tequila, pink grapefruit and soda.
Simone Crepaldi, operations manager, Callooh Callay Group, said: “We are seeing a massive increase of people drinking Tequila, especially in Margaritas, both classic and spicy are flying at the moment.
“Other Tequila-based cocktails, such as Palomas, are also having a significant uplift in sales. Since lockdown has ended, numbers in our bars, show that Tequila is taking over gin and I don’t think it will stop anytime soon.”
