Panamanian rum brand Serum has designed two luxury gift boxes for its Gorgas and Ancon expressions.

The gift boxes aim to tell the story behind each expression

Serum said the gift boxes highlight the design of the bottles and tell the stories behind their names.

Serum Gorgas Gran Reserva, bottled at 40% ABV, was aged for a minimum of eight years in ex-Bourbon barrels, and has a fruity and spicy palate with a marzipan aroma.

It was named after US Army surgeon William C Gorgas, who got rid of mosquitoes around the Panama Canal, eliminating yellow fever and malaria in the area.

Serum Ancon, also bottled at 40% ABV, was aged for a minimum of 10 years in ex-Bourbon barrels and is said to deliver flavours of dried fruit and almonds on the palate.

Its name comes from cargo and passenger ship the Ancon, the first vessel to officially pass through the Panama Canal in 1914.

Serum CEO Michal Kratochvil said: “After a very successful year 2024 with double-digit growth, we strongly believe that these eye-catching and luxurious gift boxes will take the Serum brand to the next level.”

In 2020, the brand redesigned the logos and labels for its range before it launched worldwide.

Since then it has expanded to Switzerland, Canada, Belgium, Austria and the US.

The brand also debuted two limited edition rums to showcase the tropical nature of Panama.

The rum was at Bar Convent Berlin in October 2023, along with its sister brand, Mintis Gin. It will next showcase its products at trade show ProWein, to be held in Düsseldorf, Germany, from 10-12 March 2024. Serum will be at stand C38 in Hall 7.
