Rum brand Serum has unveiled two limited edition bottlings to showcase the tropical nature of Panama.

The Panama Seasons Collection features two rums, both of which were distilled in 2005 and aged for 17 years in Panama. They aim to showcase the impact Panama’s climate has on rum between the country’s wet and dry seasons.

Serum Panama Seasons Wet 2005 was inspired by unexplored jungles in Panama. It sits at 40% ABV and is said to be rounded and slightly sweet, with tastes of tropical rainforest fruit.

The second rum, Panama Seasons Dry 2005 was inspired by the hot, dry Panamanian summer. Bottled at 45% ABV, tasting notes include aromas of tobacco, leather and cocoa.

Stepan Stanek, export manager of Rum Serum, said: “We have selected the best casks from the single vintage 2005 to produce truly special and authentic rums that best describe such a beautiful country as Panama.”

Only 3,000 bottles of each expression have been created.

The brand’s rum range includes Serum Elixir, a 35%-ABV rum-based spirit drink, with a honeyed and fruity nose, leading to flavours of almonds and peaches.

The portfolio also includes Rum Serum Gorgas Gran Reserva. At 40% ABV, this rum is described as having a spicy aroma, with notes of honey, orange zest and oak on the palate.

Serum was included in The Spirits Business’ compilation of spirits brands to discover at ProWein 2023. Taking place from 19-21 March, Serum will be present in the Same but Different Hall 7, on stand B53, alongside its stablemate Mintis Gin.
