Rooster Rojo unveils pineapple-infused TequilaBy Melita Kiely
Amber Beverage Group has expanded its portfolio with the addition of Rooster Rojo Smoked Pineapple Infused Añejo.
This will be the first new Tequila from Fabrica de Tequilas Fino in the UK since Amber Beverage Group acquired the distillery in Jalisco, Mexico.
Set to launch in the UK in September, the Smoked Pineapple expression is made entirely from Blue Weber agave.
The Tequila is initially aged for at least 12 months in ex-Bourbon barrels. It is then infused with red Spanish pineapples that have been smoked to give an extra layer of complexity.
Tasting notes include ripe banana, pineapple, spices and a smoky finish.
Bottled at 40% ABV, Rooster Rojo Smoked Pineapple Infused Añejo will retail for RRP £25.99 (US$36) per 700ml bottle.
It will be available to purchase from Master of Malt, Amazon and Ocado.
Rooster Rojo Tequila made its US debut earlier this year after signing a distribution deal with California-based Pacific Edge Wine and Spirits.
In September last year, Amber Beverage Group acquired 220 hectares of agave fields in Mexico to support its Tequila production.
Earlier this year, we caught up with Pepijn Janssens, chief marketing officer and managing director for the Americas to learn more about Amber Beverage Group’s global ambitions.
