Halal ‘whisky’ firm offers jobs to Syrian refugees

Halal “whisky” producer Arkay Beverages has pledged to make a “huge financial commitment” by offering 10 Syrian and Iraqi refugees the chance to work at its headquarters in Florida.

Arkay Beverages offers a range of non-alcoholic products

The group said it has a “moral obligation” to help refugees and hopes to hire tech skilled refugees, including programmers, web designers and also qualified native speaking translators to work on the group’s numerous websites.

Furthermore, the group hopes that with the help of native speaking translators Arkay can increase the understanding of its products among Middle Eastern consumers.

Arkay Beverages also plans to export from the US to the Middle East and will also be looking to hire more American employees.

“In accepting refugees displays a ‘significant scaling up’ of Arkay commitment to accept people from conflict zones and help provide for their needs,” commented David Angel, VP of marketing at Arkay.

“Helping others actually will help us back in the US once our new bottling plant is up and running, still we need to get the permission from the US Citizenship & Immigration services to hire these refugees, though we have good hope that it will be granted.”

Arkay Beverages took its alcohol-free “whisky” variant global in November last year.
