Paying tribute to the history of Barcelona, Avao Gin is inspired by the Treaty of Tudilén in 1137, which united Aragon and Barcelona.

Avao, short for ‘a vibrant authentic obsession’, is a triple-distilled London Dry gin.

Made with botanicals from the surroundings of Barcelona, the ‘crisp’ gin combines juniper, citrus peel and lavender.

Offered at 39% ABV, Avao is said to shine with tonic water and in cocktails.

With the new deal with Bemakers, Avao 1137 Gin will be available to consumers via the distributor’s e-commerce shop in Austria, Denmark, France, Germany, Netherlands, Sweden, and Switzerland.

Avao Gin will also be available in Sweden through the country’s monopoly spirits retailer, Systembolaget, and for the on- and off-trade in Sweden and Denmark.

Other brands recently joining Bemakers’ portfolio include Cambodia’s Seeker Independent Spirits, German distiller Slyrs, and Cincoro Tequila, co-founded by NBA legend Michael Jordan.

Last year, Bemakers secured €3.5 million (US$3.8 million) in a seed funding round to expand its operations in Europe.

In December, The Spirits Business shared insight into the current demand for gin on the global market.
