Zamora unveils organic Volteo Tequila
The US arm of Zamora Company has launched organic Tequila brand Volteo after two years of development, with investment from co-founder Dak Prescott.
Co-founded by Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys quarterback, Zamora Company’s new luxury Tequila brand Volteo is distilled and bottled at Destilería Casa de Piedra in Jalisco, Mexico.
Volteo small-batch Tequila launches with three initial expressions – blanco, reposado, and cristalino – with additional releases to follow.
Packaged in an eye-catching 750ml bottle, the brand claims to be one of the only luxury Tequilas on the market that is both organic and additive-free.
Matt Appleby, CEO of Dallas-based Zamora Company USA, said: “Tequila Volteo was created to elevate the luxury Tequila category by challenging the status quo and honouring our founder Dak’s vision to craft a spirit of uncompromising standards. The same strength of character that defines Dak’s purpose in life – honesty, integrity, and tireless work – is what goes into crafting Tequila Volteo.”
The word ‘volteo’ loosely translated means ‘to turn things around,’ which the brand says describes Prescott and his resolve to overcome difficulties in his career and personal life.
Appleby added: “As an athlete, Dak is very thoughtful about what he eats and drinks, so when we began developing this Tequila with him, he was insistent that we keep it clean and natural, with no sugar or other additives – and that’s exactly what we did.
“True luxury is additive-free, and that’s a distinction very few brands, if any, can claim. Tequila Volteo is a game changer.”
The unaged Volteo blanco retails for US$69.99, and the reposado, aged for three months in American oak barrels, for US$89.99. The brand’s Cristalino Tequila, retailing for US$99.99, was rested for three months in French oak wine barrels and filtered to produce a clear expression with a faint colour tint.
Each expression of Tequila Volteo can be enjoyed neat, on the rocks, or in cocktails.
Zamora Company USA is the US operating company of the Madrid-based owner of wine and spirits brands, including Licor 43, Lolea Spritz and Martin Miller’s Gin.
In February of this year, Zamora partnered with Paragon Brands for an exclusive distribution deal in the UK.
In July, the company reported its third consecutive year of record sales for 2023.
