Mathieu Teisseire crowns Flavour Masters winner
Flavoured syrups brand Mathieu Teisseire has crowned Maxence Piattelli from France as its inaugural global competition winner.
For its first year, Flavour Masters welcomed contestants from five countries. The three-stage competition launched in April 2024.
The competition celebrates the craftsmanship behind ‘true flavour’ by challenging participants to ‘push the boundaries of what’s possible with flavour’ in a competitive setting.
The National Finals took place in cities across Europe, Asia and the Middle East in May and June. The shortlisted contestants from each market were given a deep look into flavour building by Swiss flavour and fragrance company Givaudan and the global Mathieu Teisseire team.
Participants showcased a unique elevated serve, which was judged by local brand ambassadors.
Five were crowned as Flavour Masters’ national winners, making their way to the grand final: Piattelli, Jordan Iwannidhs from Greece, Maxim Yukhno from Dubai, Francesco Manente from the Netherlands, and Nguyen Minh Son from Vietnam.
The five finalists had a three-day immersion into the home of Mathieu Teisseire, touring the brand’s facilities in Paris and Crolles.
The contestants were judged in three challenges: ‘Get to know grenadine’, ‘Flavours of nature’ and ‘Emotion three ways’. The latter involved contestants presenting a flight tasting of three different serves designed to evoke different emotions, each using a Mathieu Teisseire syrup.
Piattelli received a three-city ‘global flavour tour’ to some of the world’s biggest drinks trade shows and will feature in Mathieu Teisseire’s series of seminars and bar takeovers.
