Passoã reignites Pornstar Martini competition
By Lauren BowesPassion fruit liqueur brand Passoã has brought back its global bartending competition for another year, with a €1,000 (US$1,120) prize up for grabs.
The Pornstar Martini was created by Douglas Ankrah in 2002, with Passoã featured in his original recipe. The cocktail has been one of the UK’s favourite cocktails since 2018, although there is some confusion over how it is supposed to be enjoyed.
Entries are open to participants in the USA, UK, Australia, Belgium, Germany, Greece, Netherlands, Spain and France.
Bartenders are encouraged to create their own spin on the Pornstar Martini, while still using a minimum of 20ml of Passoã in the drink. The serves will be awarded points based on taste (40% of total points), name (20%), ease to replicate (25%), originality (10%), and the photograph (5%).
Entries must be submitted on the Difford’s Guide website by 31 October, with winners announced on 18 November.
This year’s judges include Tess Posthumus, owner of Flying Dutchmen Cocktails; Eric Ribeiro, Lucas Bols North America Cocktail Academy manager; Kaarina Jannin, Passoã global brand director; and Ivar de Lange, global education manager for Lucas Bols and head of Bols Cocktail Academy.
As well as the money, the first-place winner will get a profile interview on Difford’s Guide. Second place will be awarded €500 (US$560).
