Gallo invests in mezcal and rum

It was great news for mezcal brand Derrumbes and Puerto Rican brand Ron del Barrilito in July, when Spirit of Gallo invested in both. The details of the investment, including price and stake, were undisclosed. The move marked a return to the super-premium rum sector for Gallo, which had distributed Venezuelan brand Diplomático until January 2023.

In July, Moët Hennessy-owned Glenmorangie upped the age of its flagship Original whisky from 10 years to 12, stating that the extra 24 months ‘turn up the volume’ on the expression’s signature notes.

Pernod Ricard-owned Royal Salute made headlines last month with a trio of whiskies inspired by the 62-gun salute at the Tower of London. The range includes the brand’s Original Reserve, as well as an American oak-finished expression and a peated whisky.


The Singleton debuts GTR whisky range

Next up on the list is another whisky launch – this time from Diageo-owned The Singleton. The collection is exclusive to global travel retail (GTR) and features four whiskies inspired by the earth’s ‘fertile grounds’ and ‘diverse ecosystem’. They will be rolling out across the world in the next few months, so make sure to check out duty free.
