The Singleton debuts GTR whisky range
Diageo-owned The Singleton has launched a collection of whiskies exclusively for global travel retail, named Garden of Abundance.
Inspired by earth’s ‘fertile grounds’ and ‘diverse ecosystem’, the range consists of four whiskies: Radiant Spring Garden, Golden Autumn Orchard, Exotic Spice Grove, and Deep Forest Riches – all distilled at Glendullan distillery in Scotland.
Dr Craig Wilson, master blender of The Singleton, said: “This is one of the most exciting collections we have ever worked on. A flavour-first whisky that lets us push the boundaries of our craft. I’m incredibly proud of this collection and I can’t wait for people to explore it.
“Inspired by seasonality, we developed flavours that evoke specific times and places. We focused on environments that inspire emotions and aromas, influencing not only the whisky but also the naming, recipes, and wood types used for ageing.
“The first variant, Radiant Spring Garden, reflects the terroir of the Glendullan distillery and its surroundings. As the collection progresses, it incorporates more exotic influences. The whiskies evolve from light, grassy notes to mature orchards, sweet spice groves, and rich forest woodiness.”
Radiant Spring Garden is matured in select white oak casks and has a RRP of US$68.
The Singleton Golden Autumn Orchard is double-matured in ex-Bourbon and American white oak casks and offers notes of ‘fruity toffee apples, poached pears in syrup, hints of vanilla and butterscotch’ on the palate. The expression retails for US$99.
The third single malt in the collection, Exotic Spice Grove, has been aged in ex-wine and rejuvenated casks, and then married together in Reserve Oak casks. This is said to result in notes of ‘dark, spiced honey, rich berries, fig jam, cinnamon and nutmeg’. The triple cask-matured expression has an RRP of US$180.
Lastly, Deep Forest Riches completes the collection, offering notes of ‘dried fruits, raisins, dates and dark chocolate’. Initially matured in European oak, the whisky has been finished in Palo Cortado Sherry, Marsala wine and Pedro Ximenez Oloroso Sherry-seasoned casks. A quadruple cask-aged whisky, it can be purchased for US$280.
Wilson added: “Opening a bottle from this range is like stepping into a secret garden, with aromas of blooming flowers, fresh herbs, and ripe fruits, promising a unique sensory journey.”
The collection is now available in Changi Airport in Singapore and will be launched in Delhi and Heathrow airports in August. It will then roll out across Hainan, Dubai and Malaysia airports in the following months.
Earlier this month, The Singleton’s owner Diageo announced its first generative AI-powered personalised bottle experience at the Johnnie Walker brand home in Edinburgh.
