Rebel 100 debuts six-year-old Bourbon
By Lauren BowesKentucky’s Lux Row Distillers has launched the newest expression in its Rebel 100 Bourbon line.
The whiskey is made using the brand’s wheated recipe that dates to 1849.
Part of the Rebel Bourbon range, whiskeys in the Rebel 100 variant are bottled at 100 proof (50% ABV).
Rebel 100 6-Year Bourbon will retail for US$59.99 for a 750ml bottle.
On the nose, it offers ‘vanilla and honey’, with ‘dark fruits, citrus and oak’ on the palate. It has a ‘velvety smooth finish’ with just a hint of spice’.
“Rebel 100 6-Year Bourbon demonstrates that age is never a bad thing,” said Lux Row Distillers’ master distiller John Rempe.
“The combination of spotlighting our original recipe and ageing it for six years resulted in a rich and rebellious, full-flavour Bourbon that I think will resonate with consumers.
“Six years is a long time to wait, but the wait was worth it.”
Last year, Rebel’s brand manager Philip Lux revealed his plans to expand the brand, following the launch of a wine-finished expression as part of its Special Finish Series.
The Bourbon brand is produced at Lux Row Distillers in Kentucky, which is part of the Luxco group.
