Yangdup Lama and Minakshi Singh to open Hyderabad bar
By Lauren BowesBar Stormy will be the newest venue from Indian on-trade veterans Yangdup Lama and Minakshi Singh when it opens in July.

Lama and Singh are the minds behind New Delhi’s Sidecar and Gurgaon’s Cocktails & Dreams Speakeasy. More recently, they opened The Old House in Nepal and The Brook in Gurgaon.
The duo also teamed up with Vikram Achanta to launch the India Bartender Show in 2025.
For Bar Stormy, Lama and Singh have partnered with Kishore Pallamreddy.
Bar Stormy will continue Lama and Singh’s ‘neighbourhood bar’ philosophy in their first venture in Hyderabad. The name is taken from the Dark and Stormy cocktail.
Singh said: “We’ve always loved building bars that feel familiar and easy to return to; spaces where regulars and first-timers feel very much at home.
“Bar Stormy marks our first venture into South India, and Hyderabad felt like a natural choice. It’s a new market for us, but one that holds huge promise and a real hunger for choice.”
The bar is the first for which Lama has personally designed the ergonomics and functionality of the space, from the layout of the stations to the workflow.
Lama added: “A great bar should feel effortless. After working behind the counter, it’s been thrilling to design this one completely from scratch, building every detail from a bartender’s perspective. It is shaped by the realities of running a busy bar to create an environment that is as intuitive for the team as it is welcoming for guests.”
