MeMento brings back alcohol-free cocktail contest
By Rupert HohwielerItalian non-alcoholic ‘spirit’ MeMento has revealed the return of its alcohol-free cocktail competition, Less is More.
The contest made its debut last year, branded as the ‘world’s first’ non-alcoholic cocktail competition, and aims to reward bartenders for making drinks without the need for alcohol, with technique and creativity both key in finding the winning formula.
Entry is open for bartenders from around the world and participants must submit their recipes before 10 January on the MeMento website.
The recipes must contain five or less ingredients with 0% ABV, using at least 50ml of MeMento, MeMento Green or MeMento Blue.
Four bartenders with their selected recipes will then move onto the final, to be held in Milan’s Principe di Savoia bar on 29 January. The evaluation criteria will be split between innovation, taste and visuals, recipe features and sustainability.
The prize for the winner will include a spot on MeMento’s Bar Convent Berlin 2024 team as house bartender, as well as flights to the city, entrance to the show and two nights of accommodation.
“Alcohol-free cocktails are by now becoming indispensable on the menus of bars, hotels, and restaurants all over the world,” said MeMento founder Eugenio Muraro. “And for this reason it is important to give all professionals in the sector an opportunity to have a positive discussion on the topic.”
With the first month of the year being ‘Dry January’ for some, we also rounded up 10 initiatives that partakers can get involved in.
