Bautista, famed as an actor for his roles in movies such as Guardians of the Galaxy and Dune and as a professional wrestler for the WWE, said he is “extremely honoured to join the Devils River family”.

“I was blown away by their products and the love and pride that goes into making them. I couldn’t be more excited to contribute to the growth of the company,” he added.

Bautista will also join the brand’s Devils Advocates group, which supports the company’s social responsibility efforts and overall mission.

Founded in 2017, in San Antonio, Texas, Devils River Whiskey has eight expressions in its portfolio and can be found across cruise lines, as well as in 36 states and five countries.

The Bourbon is described by the brand as ‘rich’ and ‘bold’, with limestone-filtered water from the Devils River used as a central ingredient in the finishing process.

Devils River expects Bautista to have a big impact on both the brand and the wider industry.

Mike Cameron, co-founder and president of Devils River Whiskey, said: “We are thrilled to have someone of Dave’s calibre as an investor and partner.

“Dave’s involvement in our brand is a major step toward Devils River Whiskey leading the diversification of Bourbon culture and elevating Texas whiskey.’

“Our goal is to create a Bourbon legacy that can compete directly with recognised world-class distillers in Kentucky and other places with long-established whiskey industries and, with Dave’s support and vision, we are confident that we will continue to elevate our brand and gain broader recognition for the Texas whiskey industry.”

There have been a large number of celebrity-beverage link-ups this year, with the likes of Kiefer Sutherland, Woody Harrelson, Blake Lively and Margot Robbie also tapping into the world of spirits.
