The Rock releases Teremana Añejo

Teremana Tequila, the brand co-founded by Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, has rolled out an añejo expression.

The añejo bottling is available in limited quantities due to its ‘time-intensive, hand-crafted’ process

After Johnson teased the new Tequila in an Instagram post in August, Teremana Añejo has finally hit shelves in the US.

The wrestler-turned-actor launched the Teremana brand in March 2020, along with co-owners Ken Austin, Jenna Fagnan, Dany Garcia and the Lopez family.

The new añejo bottling joins blanco and reposado expressions in the brand’s range, which is produced at its purpose-built distillery in Jesús María, Jalisco, Mexico. The distillery was created in partnership with the Lopez family, who are experts in traditional agave spirits.

“It is with enormous pride that we reveal Teremana Añejo, a spirit that we’ve been waiting patiently for since well before we announced the launch of Teremana last year,” Johnson said.

The expression is made from agave that has been slow-roasted in small traditional brick ovens. The liquid is distilled in copper pot stills and aged in American whiskey barrels. Each bottle is hand-dipped in black wax and packaged at the distillery.

Johnson continued: “Teremana Añejo is made the right way – with respect and mana. My master distilling team and I finally feel that our añejo is aged to perfection and is ready to be bottled up and delivered to you all. As with all Teremana, being the best in quality and taste is key.”

The 40% ABV Tequila offers notes of vanilla, roasted agave and oak, with a finish that’s ‘sweet and complex’. It is now available in limited quantities across the US for US$39.99 per 750ml bottle.

“Our hand-crafted, slow process to create Teremana Añejo means it won’t be easy to find, but once you do, I know you’ll love it,” Johnson said. “Teremana Añejo is the new gold standard of ultra-premium Tequila for Tequila lovers around the world. I’m so excited for you all to finally taste it and continue to enjoy the ‘Tequila of The People’.”

Earlier this year, Johnson’s brand revealed a Tequila tour bus which travelled the US and provided cocktails to consumers.
