Seedlip and tonic RTD cans launch in UK
Non-alcoholic ‘spirit’ Seedlip has launched a trio of ready-to-drink (RTD) cans that combine the brand’s three variants with tonic water.
Released at the beginning of the year, the Seedlip and tonic cans are said to offer a “convenient ready-to-drink option for alcohol-free choices”.
The first variant is described as a “citrus blend of copper pot distillates including bitter orange, mandarin, blood orange, lemongrass, ginger and lemon”.
The “aromatic” Seedlip Spice 94 with Grapefruit Tonic is said to have “strong flavours of allspice, berries and cardamom, and top notes of lemon and grapefruit peel, oak and cascarilla bark to create a bitter twist”.
Meanwhile, Seedlip Garden 108 with Cucumber Tonic “captures the essence of the English countryside with sophisticated top notes of fresh peas with a complex herbal base character of spearmint, rosemary and thyme”.
“Since [its] launch four years ago Seedlip has continued to inspire and pioneer the space,” said Ben Branson, founder of Seedlip Drinks. “We’re so excited to launch our signature Seedlip and tonic in a can format, giving consumers a sophisticated and complex alcohol alternative for post-work when on the go.”
Each can is priced at £2.50 (US$3.25) and is available to buy from UK supermarkets Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Marks & Spencer and Ocado.
Seedlip entered the RTD category in October 2019 with the launch of alcohol-free bottled cocktail Nogroni in October 2019.
UK drinks giant Diageo increased its shareholding in booze-free Seedlip to a majority stake in August 2019. Last month, Diageo said it saw a “real growth opportunity” in the alcohol-free category.
Diageo also moved into the alcohol-free RTD arena with the launch of non-alcoholic canned Baileys iced coffees in September 2019.
