Weedka to be showcased at The Wine & Spirits Show

As the trend for cannabis-based drinks takes off, a new vodka infused with cannabis oil will be available to taste at The Wine & Spirits Show’s New Products Zone next month.

Weedka is a new vodka infused with cannabis oil

The event is a collaboration between The Spirits Business and the drinks business and will take place on 12 and 13 April at The Royal Horseguards Hotel in London.

Over the course of the two days, the event will bring leading wine and spirits brands together for an exciting programme of discussion, tasting and learning.

The Wine & Spirits Show will encompass two halls – one dedicated to wine and one to spirits – and will feature a number of masterclasses for the trade and consumers.

There will also be a New Products Zone, which is set to be one of the main attractions of the event, showcasing cutting-edge and innovative new expressions.

Weedka, a new vodka distilled five times and infused with cannabis oil, will be one of the products available to sample.

Initially launching in Amsterdam, the expression is said to be “well balanced” with a “fine taste” and a “soft finish”.

With an abv of 40%, Weedka contains no THC or other psychoactive substances and was created in collaboration with Herman Jansen Beverages in Schiedam, in the Netherlands.

Other products on offer include Knut Hansen Dry Gin, which is produced in Hamburg and takes its name from a legendary sailor called Knut Hansen. The gin is made using a selection of 14 botanicals including apple, basil and cucumber.

Sacred Rosehip Cup is bottled at 18% abv

London-based Sacred Spirits will also be bringing its Sacred Rosehip Cup apéritif to the show.

Made with English rosehips, Spanish sweet orange, organic Peruvian ginger and naturally coloured with Red Grape skins, Sacred Rosehip Cup (18% abv) is best served in a spritz, mixed with soda or used in a Negroni.

Ireland’s Kinsale Spirit Company will also be debuting its London Dry gin. Kinsale, based on the southern coast of Ireland, describes the gin as having flavours of the Kinsale countryside.

Meanwhile, UK drinks distributor Gravity Drinks will be unveiling its Grander Rum eight-year-old and 12-year-old and Mucha Tequila. The new rums are both bottled at 45% abv and have been aged in Bourbon barrels. The expressions will launch exclusively into the UK.
