Bar Academy launches to train aspiring bartenders

Recruitment website Job Today has launched the new Bar Academy scheme to give Londoners the skills needed to work in the hospitality industry.

Bar Academy will train 10 bartenders at Michelin-starred restaurant Pied a Terre

The mobile recruitment app will train 10 job seekers at London’s Michelin-starred Pied a Terre restaurant in Fitzrovia.

Restaurateur and owner David Moore will tutor each individual, teaching them how to create three unique cocktails. One applicant will then be awarded a week of paid work experience at Pied a Terre.

Polina Montano, co-founder of Job Today, said: “Through Job Today Bar Academy events we are giving employers a platform to offer paid work experience and job seekers the opportunity to understand more about the industry they want to work in.

“This scheme is the perfect chance for job seekers to become hands on and learn new skills, therefore helping them become more employable. It’s a fantastic opportunity to make contacts and learn tricks of the trade from talented peers.”

Job Today has plans to expand its learning academy to include cookery training, as well as admin, cleaning and more.

Bar Academy is the latest training initiative for the hospitality industry and follows the launch of Diageo’s Learning for Life programme and online bartender training app Jerry.
