Opihr Gin launches fourth annual cocktail comp

The fourth annual Opihr World Adventure Cocktail Competition is now open to bartenders, following significant expansion into new markets.

Entries are now open for the fourth Opihr World Adventure Cocktail Competition

Initially only open in core markets, such as the UK, US and Spain, the competition has expanded its global reach and is now also open to bartenders in Australia, Hong Kong and Germany.

Originally launched in 2013, Opihr’s flavours are sourced from locations along the ancient spice route, including cardamom from India, spicy cubeb berries from Indonesia and coriander from Morocco.

Bartenders are invited to create an Opihr cocktail inspired by a location on the spice route, with the winner receiving a trip for two to a mystery location on the route.

The grand final of the competition will be held in Marrakech, Morocco, in September 2017.

“The Opihr World Adventure Cocktail Competition enables bartenders to immerse themselves in the mystery and exotic fusion associated with the ancient spice route to capture the essence of Opihr,” said Joanna Richardson, Opihr international brand director at Quintessential Brands.

“We’re seeking the intrepid explorers of the international bartending community – those who are inspired by the spirit of adventure and fuelled by innovation – to embed the Opihr spirit into new, exciting cocktails.

“In 2017 we are excited to double the international reach of the competition to reflect the strong growth behind the brand.”

Last year, UK bartender Joe MacBeth stormed to victory with his drink, Fragrant Harbour – inspired by his upbringing in Hong Kong.

Bartenders have until 1 July 2017 to submit their entries online at www.opihr.com/competition.
