Walsh Whiskey Distillery secures M&S listing
By Nicola CarruthersWalsh Whiskey Distillery has pinned down listings for its Irish whiskey brands, The Irishman Founder’s Reserve and Writers Tears Red Head, in British retailer Marks & Spencer.
The Irishman Founder’s Reserve and Writers Tears Red Head have been listed in M&S
The Irishman Founder’s Reserve is a “unique” take on the old Irish pot still whiskey and is the original blend created by Walsh Whiskey Distillery founder Bernard Walsh. It is a blend of 70% single malt and 30% single pot still.
Writers Tears Red Head, first released in August 2016, is a triple-distilled single malt whisky – aged in Sherry butts seasoned with oloroso Sherry, said to give it a “distinct, rich, ruby red hue”.
The multinational retailer has listed Writers Tears Copper Pot in all of its 625 stores since 2013.
Walsh Whiskey Distillery’s senior global sales manager, Shane Fitzharris, said: “Following on from the successful listing of Writers Tears Copper Pot, we are delighted to be increasing the listing of Walsh Whiskey Distillery brands across the Marks & Spencer network of premium stores.
“We look forward to growing the interest of their, very significant, customer base in both our whiskeys and our distillery in the years ahead.”
In October last year, Walsh Whiskey celebrated 17 years in business and the opening of its new distillery in County Carlow with the launch of a 17-year-old single cask expression of The Irishman.
