The new Irishman expression is a vatting of first fill Sherry butt Irish whiskeyThe Irishman 17 Year Old Single Cask Single Malt, a vatting of first fill Sherry butt Irish whiskey, will be available to a limited number of exclusive retailers, including Harrods in London, Dugas of Paris, and the Irish Whiskey Collection at Dublin Airport.
“This is an historic year in the development of our company with the commissioning of our distillery at the 18th century Royal Oak estate,” said Bernard Walsh, founder and chief executive of Walsh Whiskey Distillery. “That landmark warranted a very special release.
“The signature of this exceptional 17-year-old is its deep rich flavour profile. The influence of the Sherry cask is forever present, with notes of dark chocolate, toasted oak and sweet sherried raisins.
“We have specifically bottled it at natural cask strength (54% abv) without chill filtering – as nature had intended.”
Walsh Whiskey opened its €25 million distillery in Royal Oak, County Carlow in June this year, becoming the only independent Irish whiskey producer to make malt, pot still and grain liquid.
