Edrington names new distributor in Australia
Edrington has ended its distribution agreements with Beam Suntory and Coca-Cola Amatil in Australia, where its brands will now be represented by new company Spirits Platform.
The Macallan maker Edrington has appointed a new distributor in Australia
From 1 April, Spirits Platform will distribute Edrington’s The Macallan and Highland Park single malt Scotch whiskies, and The Famous Grouse and Cutty Sark blends.
William Chan, managing director of Edrington Hong Kong, said Beam Suntory and Coca-Cola Amatil had “helped build a solid foundation that presents an exciting opportunity for growth” in Australia.
He said of Edrington’s new partnership with Spirits Platform: “We can expect big things from the company in 2017, with more exciting news around the corner.”
Launched in 2015, Spirits Platform took over distribution for Rémy Cointreau’s Bruichladdich Scotch whiskies and The Botanist gin in February 2016.
In the year to 31 March 2016, Edrington saw its profits fall by £7 million due to “tough trading conditions”, while revenues remained flat.
The company is set to relocate its headquarters to 100 Queen Street in Glasgow this spring, closing its office in Perth, Scotland – a move the company said could lead to a “small number” of job losses.
