Famous Grouse unveils Andy Murray cask

The Famous Grouse has extended its “Bottle Your Own” series with a cask named after Scottish tennis star Andy Murray.

Andy Murray is the latest famous face honoured by The Famous Grouse’s single cask range

The “Bottle Your Own” initiative sees The Famous Grouse Experience, based at The Glenturret Distillery, name handpicked single casks after famous Perthshire residents. The “extremely collectable” casks are then bottled and sold as distillery exclusives.

Earl and Countess of Strathearn, also known as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, were the first famous faces to lend their names to the programme, and bottled the whisky on a trip to the distillery last year.

The second distillery exclusive “Bottle Your Own” cask was named after Moulin Rouge actor Ewan McGregor.

Sales from the latest cask in the range, which pays homage to Wimbledon 2013 winner Andy Murray, will donate £2.00 from every to charity.

“After the massive popularity of both The Earl and Countess of Strathearn Cask and the Ewan McGregor Cask we’ve extended our celebration of Perthshire’s most famous individuals,” said Stuart Cassells, general manager at The Famous Grouse Experience.

“Andy Murray and his family are from just down the road in Dunblane, his hotel Cromlix is about 20 minutes away, and he’s a regular visitor to the area because of his family and business connections.

“We hope the next time he’s home in Dunblane he can pop through to try the whisky for himself at our Bottle Your Own Experience. He would be most warmly welcomed.”
