Will and Kate to visit Scotland’s oldest distillery
By Amy HopkinsThe Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will take a tour of The Glenturret Distillery – thought to be the oldest Scotch whisky distillery – during a visit to Scotland.
Prince William and Kate Middleton will take a tour of The Glenturret Distillery next weekCrieff-based Glenturret, which makes The Famous Grouse whisky and is home to The Famous Grouse Experience, will host the royal couple next Thursday 29 May.
At the same time, they will officially open the distillery’s revamped £250,000 visitors’ centre and will be the first people to bottle their own Glenturret whisky following a private tour.
William and Kate, known as The Earl and Countess of Strathearn in Scotland, will be served the Strathearn Pie during their visit, a dish made by local company Wilde Thyme using slow cooked beef and onions sautéd in Glenturret whisky.
“It’s an absolute pleasure to welcome The Earl and Countess of Strathearn to The Famous Grouse Experience,” said Stuart Cassells, general manager of The Famous Grouse Experience
“We’re delighted that they’ll be officially opening our newly renovated site and look forward to hearing what they make of the Strathearn Pie.”
The Famous Grouse Scotch whisky holds a Royal Warrant, which was first appointed in January 1984.
