Compass Box auctions Scotch-Swedish one-off blend
By Miona MadsenWhisky maker Compass Box has partnered with Bonhams to auction eight new and rare whisky releases, including a one-off Scotch and Swedish blend called Confluence.

Confluence will be the main attraction in the upcoming ‘Art & Alchemy of Spirits: Presenting Compass Box to Benefit the Wolfsonian’ charity auction, organised in partnership with Bonhams.
The online auction, in conjunction with the whisky blender’s 25th anniversary, will take place from 26 November to 10 December.
The net proceeds from these lots will support educational programmes and future exhibitions at The Wolfsonian-Florida International University – a Miami Beach-based museum, library, and research centre dedicated to exploring art and design.
Compass Box Confluence is estimated to sell for between US$10,000-US$13,000.
Sean Purce, senior specialist of fine wines and rare spirits at Bonhams, commented: “We’re delighted to collaborate with Compass Box on such an exceptional showcase of spirits.
“At its centre is Confluence, a one-of-one masterpiece that redefines the boundaries of whisky making and exemplifies a fearless approach to creativity.
“Where others follow well-established norms, Compass Box redraws the map, reminding us that whisky, at its finest, is not just engineered, but inspired.”
Confluence was developed in collaboration with Angela D’Orazio, the former master blender at Mackmyra and the recently appointed creative director of whisky making at Compass Box.
The bottle’s label features a painting by contemporary London-based artist Mary West, known for her stylised landscape art. This exclusive label combines abstract and figurative elements to evoke the landscapes of Scotland and Sweden.
Furthermore, the whisky is housed in a timber display pedestal crafted by Scottish woodworker Duncan Legate.
Other lots
In addition to Confluence, the collaboration will showcase seven lots from the brand’s archive, featuring a mix of classic expressions, new releases, and rare, limited edition pieces, all offered without reserve.
Bringing back some of Compass Box’s most sought-after expressions, the auction will offer the No Name Collection, estimated to sell for US$400-$500; The Last Vatted Collection, with a predicted sale of US$500-US$650; and the Hedonism Collection, valued at US$2,200-US$2,800.
Additionally, Compass Box The First Decade lot is estimated to sell for US$2,200-US$2,800, while The Second Decade is expected to go for between US$2,400-US$3,200.
At the top of the range, The Roaring Twenties lot sits at an estimate of US$4,400-US$5,500, while Compass Box The General is forecast to reach US$3,000-US$4,000.
Coinciding with the auction at Art Basel Miami Beach, The Wolfsonian-Florida International University will launch a month-long retrospective exhibition celebrating Compass Box’s 25-year journey – Imaginarium: The Fantastical World of Compass Box and Stranger & Stranger.
The exhibition will take place from 3 December 2025 to 4 January 2026.
Earlier this year, Compass Box released a limited edition Brûlée Royale Blended Malt Scotch Whisky inspired by the 17th-century origins of the French dessert, crème brûlée.
