Gordon & MacPhail unveils £10.5k whisky range

Gordon & MacPhail has launched a collection of six “rare” single malt Scotch whiskies from Speyside, including a 1948 bottling of The Glenlivet.

Gordon & MacPhail’s six-strong collection are whiskies from across Speyside

The independent whisky firm has initially released 75 Speyside Collections, costing £10,500 in total.

The range consists of Gordon & MacPhail Smith’s Glenlivet 1948, Gordon & MacPhail Glen Grant 1949, Gordon & MacPhail Strathisla 1953, Gordon & MacPhail Mortlach 1954, Gordon & MacPhail Longmorn 1967 and Gordon & MacPhail Linkwood 1972.

All are bottled at 43% abv except the Glen Grant expression, which has a strength of 40% abv.

Gordon & MacPhail sends casks to be filled with the new make spirit at particular distilleries, which is then matured under the guardianship of company owners, the Urquhart family.

“Four generations of our family have passed on skills and knowledge for matching spirit to quality casks and maturing whiskies for many years,” said Stephen Rankin, director and fourth generation member of the Urquhart family.

“The six vintages in the Speyside Collection are testament to our philosophy of producing high quality single malt. We hope malt whisky lovers will be able to enjoy and savour these special Speyside drams.”

The whiskies in Gordon & MacPhail’s Speyside Collection are uniquely labelled using the original distillery labels. The entire collection is now available to buy from specialist whisky retailers.

At the start of this year, Gordon & MacPhail bottled a limited edition Glen Grant 1950 expression exclusively for corporate collector Wealth Solutions.
