The Tokyo-based brand, founded by bar industry expert Yuki Yamazaki, has made a name in the UK bartending scene with its umami, yuzu, and shiso bitters made with locally-sourced botanicals.

Through the UK distribution deal with JBE Imports, a wider selection of its range will be available in the market. This includes three new bitters and a line of liqueurs.

Making their UK debuts, Sakura Bitters is a floral, umami-rich flavour enhancer balanced with cherry blossoms and salted Sakura leaves. On the other hand, Hinoki displays notes of Japanese cypress, said to make it an ideal partner for Dry Martinis and classic whisky cocktails.

Sansho Bitters completes the new bitters offering with spicy citrus notes, which complement Amaro-style cocktails.

Hojicha roasted tea liqueur, Mizunara herbal liqueur, Umeshiso plum and shiso liqueur, and Yuzukosho yuzu and chilli liqueur will also be available exclusively through the distributor.

The Japanese liqueurs can be used in classic and contemporary cocktails.

Jonathan Braham-Everett, director at JBE Imports, said: “We’re thrilled to partner with The Japanese Bitters. Their products exemplify the precision, artistry, and boldness we value, and we know bartenders across the UK will be inspired by the possibilities they bring.”

The Japanese Bitters and Liqueurs join the distributor’s portfolio, which includes Ms Better’s Bitters, Sly Dog Rum and King of Soho Gin.

Last August, JBE Imports-led consortium purchased Pinkster pink gin from Ginmeister for an undisclosed sum.
