Sly Dog launches stone-fruit rum

Spiced rum brand Sly Dog has expanded its range with a flavoured variant based on stone fruits.

Sly Dog Stoned Fruit aims to ‘redefine the way we perceive rum’ by ‘evolving rum away from traditional naval motifs’.

The liquid has a base of a three-year-aged golden rum, which is infused with ripe stone fruits, such as peach, papaya and apricot, as well as pink peppercorn and other ‘secret’ ingredients, offering sweet and tart notes on the palate.

“For too long, rum has been paired with coke and called a day, however, Sly Dog Stoned Fruit invites you to explore a world of possibilities,” said Erin Sumner, head of marketing.

“Whether you’re a cocktail connoisseur or you prefer your spirits neat, our new flavoured rum opens up a realm of mixers and cocktails waiting to be discovered. It’s time to redefine how you enjoy your rum and let your creativity flow.”

The expression has an ABV of 40% and an RRP of £33.95 (US$42). It will be available from Sly Dog’s website or through JBE Imports.

Sly Dog secured a distribution deal in Portugal in April.

According to the brand’s website, it sources its rum from a carbon-neutral distillery in the Dominican Republic.
