Trois Rivières Cuvée de l’Ocean is produced on the French Carribean island of MartiniqueEvery week, SB celebrates some of the top scoring Master medallists from The Global Spirits Masters blind-tasting competitions as part of our Spirit Masters series.
Master medallist Trois Rivières Cuvée de l’Ocean stormed to success in The Rum & Cachaça Masters 2019 as one of only eight rums to grab the top accolade. It was also one of four Trois Rivières expressions to nab a Master medal.
The blind-tasting competition took place at The Rum Kitchen Carnaby in London in February, and saw the breadth of the category come under the scrutiny of four judging panels.
The agricole was one of eight rums to gain a Master medalOne judge said of the expression: “This is a gorgeous agricole. It has a real depth of flavour, with plenty of intense cane on the nose and palate.”
Agricole originates from the French Caribbean islands, and uses pressed sugarcane juice rather than molasses. Agricole rums are largely known for their vegetal, earthy flavours, as well as their focus on provenance and artisanal production methods.
Trois Rivières Cuvée de l’Ocean is recommended served in a Mojito, Daiquiri or a Ti Punch.
The brand has also attracted the attention of Wild Turkey owner Campari Group, which recently entered into “exclusive negotiations” with the Chevrillon Group to buy French firm Rhumantilles SAS, owner of Trois Rivières and Maison La Mauny agricole rum brands.
