The Kelly Bonder’s Blend was created in collaboration with Milroy’s of SohoThe firm has launched the Custom Bonder’s Blend programme in the UK, allowing customers to commission bespoke blends of its JJ Corry brand.
Louise McGuane, founder of Chapel Gate Irish Whiskey Co, said: “Bonding Irish whiskey was a lost art and business model which we have brought back to life. We are the first whiskey bonder in Ireland in 50 years and are proud to have brought this way of making Irish whiskey back.
“JJ Corry bonded and blended whiskey, from the 1890s until his death in 1932, in his shop at 63 Henry Street, Kilrush, a few miles from our current business. The creation of bespoke blends for households in Kilrush in the 1800s was part of his trade and we are delighted to be able to offer the same service now to our international customer base.”
The first release in the Custom Bonder’s Blend programme is The Kelly Bonder’s Blend, which was created in collaboration with Milroy’s of Soho.
Bottled at 50% abv, The Kelly Bonder’s Blend is a limited to 138 bottles with a retail price of £74.95 (US$94) per 700ml bottle.
In a statement, the Milroy’s team added: “We are thrilled to be launching our collaborative bottling between Milroys and JJ Corry. We were astonished at the quality of whiskey in the rackhouse. After experimentation, we are incredibly proud of the result and are looking forward to sharing it with our friends and customers both at the bar and the shop.”
Earlier this year, Chapel Gate launched JJ Corry The Battalion, the “world’s first” Irish whiskey finished in Tequila and mezcal casks.
