By Amy HopkinsGlenfiddich will debut its new advertisement depicting the brand’s US launch during the last ever episode of Mad Men this week.
Glenfiddich’s Case of Dreams short film will air during the finale of Mad Men in the UK tonightCase of Dream depicts the quest of Sandy Grant Gordon, great-grandson of William Grant, founder of Glenfiddich’s parent company William Grant & Sons, who brought the Glenfiddich brand to New York in the 1960s.
At that time Glenfiddich Straight Malt was the first Scottish single malt to be actively marketed internationally. As such Sandy Grant Gordon is thought to have played a large part in establishing the entire single malt category.
Expected to have 1.3 million viewers, the final episode of Mad Men, centering on a 1960s advertising firm, will air in the UK on Sky Atlantic tonight.
The 60-second Case of Dreams will appear four times throughout the show’s intervals.
Robert Macpherson, who portrays Sandy Grant Gordon in the film, is currently on Broadway reprising his various roles in the stage play of Hilary Mantel’s Wolf Hall and Bring Up the Bodies.
The video was created as part of Glenfiddich’s Family Run Since 1887 global campaign and follows the creation of another advertisement, called Magnificent Ten, which dramatises the moment when William Grant opened his first distillery.
Both films were directed by Sam Miller, who is best known for directing critically acclaimed TV dramas such as Luther and Fortitude.
