Manhattan Cocktail Classic 2015 cancelled
By Becky PaskinThe organisers of the Manhattan Cocktail Classic (MCC) have confirmed the New York event has been cancelled this year.
The 2015 Manhattan Cocktail Classic has been cancelled due to poor support from sponsorsAn official statement from MCC blamed a later start date of 16-19 May for a lack of drinks brands’ availability to participate. The event was held on 9-13 May in 2014.
A statement sent on behalf of the organisers read: “On behalf of the Cocktail Classic team, we regret to announce that the 2015 Manhattan Cocktail Classic will not be held this time.
“Those who have had the pleasure of attending this best-of-class experience in the past know that the festival hinges on the many products and brands that are there to be discovered and enjoyed. This year, the production of the event had a late start resulting in many brands not being able to participate. After much deliberation, it was decided that moving forward with the festival at this time would lead to a disappointing experience for attendees, participants and sponsors.
Founded in 2009, MCC has grown to become a must-attend cocktail event, held in New York, US, for both the trade and consumers.
Described as “part fete, part conference and part cocktail party”, MCC hosts a varied schedule of seminars, tastings and parties for thousands of attendees each year.
Although organisers confirmed the 2015 edition would not go ahead, it hinted that future editions will continue as usual.
“We appreciate your patience during this transitional period and we hope you will continue your relationship with the MCC in the future,” the statement continued.
Since its launch in 2009, MCC has attracted over 20,000 visitors to-date. Around 200 sponsoring brands representing drinks, travel, lifestyle and technology have participated in that time.
