Restaurant serves cocktail to 2-year-old kid

A restaurant mistakenly served alcohol to a table full of children, the youngest of whom was just two-years-old.

A restaurant mistakenly served a table of children alcoholic cocktails

The mishap took place at Joe’s Crab Shack in Colorado Springs, US, when the Montoya family came to visit.

The children had asked for a Shark Nibble, one of the kids’ drinks on the menu, but approximately 30 minutes after their drinks were brought to them the waitress returned and took them away claiming they had been made with the wrong ingredients.

However, the two-year-old girl had already consumed most of her drink.

“The managers actually came back with the tray of drinks and then let us know that they had accidentally poured alcohol into our kids’ beverages,” Omar Montoya told KKTV. “[The manager] said it was ‘mislabelled’ and we were a little bit concerned with that kind of response.

“You order these drinks, and you order them off the kids menu with the intent that you’re providing your child with something safe and that the restaurant is doing their job.

How alcohol found its way into the children’s drinks is not yet clear.

The parents phoned for a paramedic when one of the infants complained about feeling unwell, but after being examined was sent home.

In a statement, Joe’s Crab Shack corporate office told 11 News: “Joe’s Crab Shack is aware of this incident at the Colorado Springs Location, and we are investigating this matter internally.

“We do not condone underage service of any kind.

“Our guests can rest assured that our processes are continually examined so that incidents like this are avoided.”
