Wemyss Malts launches NAS Velvet Fig

Boutique spirits company Wemyss Malts is expanding its blended malts range with the launch of a new limited edition no-age-statement expression.

Just 6,000 bottles of Wemyss Malts Velvet Fig will be launched globally

Velvet Fig is a blend of “specially selected” single malt whiskies that have been matured solely in ex-Oloroso Sherry casks to generate “rich autumn and winter fruits and spices”.

The new release is non-chill filtered and said to offer aromas of rich fruits, sweet mead and warm leather on the nose, with sultanas, soft fig, Medjool dates, nutmeg, ginger, chestnuts and toasted walnuts on the palate.

“We are thrilled with the new Wemyss Malts Velvet Fig blended malt as it will provide a unique, yet complimentary addition to the Wemyss blended malt range,” said William Wemyss, managing director of Wemyss Malts.

“Velvet Fig is sure to be a favourite with those who have a passion for Sherry cask matured whiskies or are looking for the perfect festive whisky.”

With an abv of 46%, just 6,000 bottles of Velvet Fig will be available to purchase around the world from specialist spirits stores at an RRP of £40.
