Laphroaig Select single malt launches in UK

Islay single malt Scotch whisky brand Laphroaig has expanded its portfolio with the release of Laphroaig Select.

Laphroaig Select single malt Scotch whisky is is the latest addition to Laphroaig’s portfolio

A “subtle blend of peat, oak and sweetness”, Laphroaig Select – ditributed by Maxxium UK – has been selected from Laphroaig Quarter Cask, PX Cask, Triple Wood (European oak casks) by master distiller, John Campbell, with the addition of Laphroaig 10 Year Old.

The heart is drawn form a final maturation in new American Oak casks.

The new release is said to offer notes of peat, coconut and banana on the nose, with a deep, complex and smoky palate with a sweet finish.

“Select is an exciting and unique expression that brings together the best of Laphroaig’s flavour profile,” said Campbell. “The inspiration for Laphroaig Select comes from perhaps our greatest family owner, Ian Hunter (1886-1954), one of the first distillers to experiment with both ‘new’ American and ‘traditional’ European oak maturation.

“As the world’s number one Islay malt whisky, we continue to stay true to our long and illustrious heritage, and this expression sits perfectly amongst our award-winning portfolio.”

Bottled at 40% abv, Laphroaig Select is available from selected whisky specialists and retailers at an RRP of £34.99.
