Stauning launches its first gin
Danish craft distillery Stauning has ventured beyond whisky with the launch of its first gin, which is crafted with locally sourced pine shoots.

The Stauning brand was established in 2005, and the addition of a Danish Dry Gin marks the first non-whisky spirit in the distillery’s portfolio.
The gin is distilled using the same method as Stauning whiskies, in traditional copper pot stills heated over an open flame.
Stauning gin is made with a blend of selected botanicals: juniper berries, coriander seeds, angelica root, orris root, liquorice root, and lemon peel, along with locally sourced pine shoots gathered from the forests surrounding the distillery.
The botanicals are macerated to produce a classic gin featuring bright citrus, gentle spices, and subtle herbal notes.
Bottled at 43% ABV, Danish Dry Gin is made to shine in a classic gin and tonic garnished with a lemon peel.
Stauning’s gin will debut in the Danish market in the first quarter of 2026, followed by an international launch.
The spirit is already available directly from the distillery, retailing for DKK249 (US$38/£29) for a 700ml bottle.
Last year, Stauning unveiled refreshed packaging for its core R.Y.E. and Høst whiskies to mark the distillery’s 20th anniversary.
The redesign followed a period of reorganisation for the company after Diageo’s exit from Distill Ventures, which led the distillery to cut approximately 25% of its workforce in April 2025.
