Bombay Sapphire master distiller departs
Dr Anne Brock, the master distiller of Bacardi-owned Bombay Sapphire, has announced her departure from the British gin brand.
Brock joined Bombay Sapphire to helm the gin brand’s production as master distiller in September 2017, after four years as lead distiller at Bermondsey Distillery.
She is on The Gin Guild’s board of directors, where she became the organisation’s first female head.
Announcing her departure on LinkedIn, she said: “After eight and a half wonderful years, the time has come for me to say goodbye to the Bombay Sapphire team, and to the wider Bacardi family.
“It has been a true privilege to serve as master distiller of Bombay Sapphire, working alongside some of the most talented and passionate people in our industry. I will miss the teams and individuals I’ve had the joy of collaborating with across Bacardi, and I will always carry immense pride in what we’ve achieved together.
“As I step away from this role, I’m taking some time to prepare for an exciting new chapter. I’ll remain on the board of The Gin Guild and active in the distilling community, so I suspect I’ll still be seeing many of you at dinners and Ginposium and other events in the gin industry calendar.
“To everyone I’ve crossed paths with along the way: thank you. It’s been an extraordinary journey, and I’m very much looking forward to what comes next.”
The Spirits Business has reached out to Bacardi for comment.
During her time at Bombay Sapphire, Brock oversaw the production of releases such as Premier Cru, Bramble and the Special Editions series, which includes the Sunset and English Estate gins.
Brock was educated at the University of Oxford and achieved a PhD in Organic Chemistry from St Catherine’s College.
Bombay Sapphire is the world’s second-biggest selling gin brand, according to data from The Brand Champions 2025 report.
The brand is produced at its distillery in Laverstoke Mill, Hampshire, England.
