Archie Rose celebrates women with Opal Gin

To celebrate International Women’s Day on 8 March, Sydney-based Archie Rose Distilling Co launched a limited edition Australian Opal Gin.

Released in partnership with the National Gallery of Australia and as part of the distillery’s Creator Series, the limited edition gin celebrates the pioneering Australian artists Jenny Kee and Linda Jackson and supports the National Gallery’s ‘Know My Name’ initiative.

The national programme aims to enhance the visibility of women artists and promote gender equity within Australia’s arts sector.

The Opal Gin label combines Kee’s ‘Oz Opal Scarf’ and Jackson’s ‘Wildflower Tunic’, both of which are described as a ‘love letter to the Australian environment’.

The name of the gin pays homage to the iridescent opal motifs that have been a recurring theme in both artists’ work for decades.

Opal Gin is said to reflect the Australian landscape with its classic dry style, enhanced by native Dorrigo pepperleaf, sunrise lime, and coriander seed.

Its perfect serve is recommended paired with Fever-Tree Indian Tonic, for an Australian twist on a gin and tonic.

Archie Rose Australian Opal Gin is offered at 40% ABV and is limited to just 250 bottles, priced at AU$89 (US$63).

The expression is now available from the brand’s website and at the Archie Rose Cellar Door in Rosebery, just a few kilometres south of Sydney.

Last month, Archie Rose launched the third batch of its Single Cask Series, featuring a six-year-old single malt.
