Gleann Mòr Spirits acquires Lowland Bond
By Miona MadsenEdinburgh-based spirits producer and bottler Gleann Mòr Spirits has completed its purchase of the Lowland Bond excise warehouse in Fife.

Previously a shareholder of the warehouse, Gleann Mòr Spirits has acquired full ownership of the bond from the Edinburgh Whisky Company. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
The deal is expected to ‘significantly’ enhance the company’s capacity to meet global demand for whisky maturation, storage, and distribution, and to position it better to deliver services to distillers, cask owners, and importers worldwide.
Lowland Bond opened in April 2023, claiming to be the tallest rack warehouse for whisky in the UK and Europe.
It offers 30,000 square feet of secure storage with the capacity to house more than 20,000 casks.
Situated in Glenrothes, Fife, the warehouse is said to offer a well-connected logistics network, making it an ideal hub for the global spirits trade.
A spokesperson from Gleann Mòr Spirits commented: “The acquisition of Lowland Bond is a transformational step for our business. It provides us with the scale, capability, and flexibility to support our partners around the world.
“This acquisition, alongside our continued investment, ensures Gleann Mòr Spirits is ready to scale sustainably and seize the opportunities ahead.”
Gleann Mòr Spirits’ portfolio includes brands such as the independent label Rare Find, Glasgow Gin, Leith Spirits, and the London Distillery Company, which it acquired in 2023.
Rare Find marks 10th birthday with Caol Ila release
In addition to acquiring Lowland Bond, Gleann Mòr Spirits is celebrating not only the company’s 10th anniversary but also its whisky label, Rare Find.

To commemorate the company’s journey, Rare Find returned to Diageo’s Islay distillery Caol Ila for a single cask release – the source of its first bottling in 2015.
Derek Mair, founder of Gleann Mòr Spirits, said: “Our Caol Ila 42 Year Old is a whisky of distinction – remarkable not just for its lineage, echoing the spirit of our very first release, but for embodying the essence of everything we pursue: profound depth, genuine authenticity and singular character.
“Decades of patient maturation have sculpted this venerable spirit into an archetype of what Rare Find represents – whiskies defined by character that are pure enjoyment in every sip.”
The 42-year-old whisky was drawn from a refill hogshead no.1288, yielding only 42 bottles, bottled at natural cask strength of 51.7% ABV.
On the nose, the single malt presents aromas of Cuban cigars, candied tropical fruits, and earthy peat smoke. The palate reveals notes of banana and lemon, minerality, and delicate smoke.
The anniversary release has a recommended retail price of £999 (US$1,136) and will be available from select Rare Find stockists starting on 12 December 2025.
