Oat milk-based RTD brand calls in liquidator

The Scottish company behind oat milk-based bottled cocktail brand, Panther M*lk, has appointed a liquidator after facing cashflow difficulties.

Beastly Brews, the parent company of Panther M*lk, appointed Donald McKinnon of Scottish accountancy firm Wbg, as provisional liquidator on 14 August.

All seven employees at Beastly Brews were made redundant prior to McKinnon’s appointment.

Beastly Brews was founded by Paul Crawford, the former owner of the Sub Club nightclub in Glasgow, in 2020.

Panther M*lk’s range of 500ml bottled vegan cream liqueurs is made using oat milk, with flavours including coffee and strawberry. Crawford launched the brand as a plant-based alternative to the traditional Spanish cocktail Leche de Pantera. The serve combines gin, whisky, condensed milk and water.

Crawford said: “We had invested in the production of stock in advance with the intention of supplying to Tesco and Sainsbury’s, but both arrangements fell through, leaving us with too much stock, the cost of production to account for, and, ultimately, cashflow difficulties as we sought to offset the stock, resulting in this unfortunate liquidation.”

Crawford appeared on the BBC show Dragons’ Den in 2022, where he secured investment for Panther M*lk. It was sold on Amazon and in UK supermarkets such as Asda and the Co-op.

The company generated a turnover of approximately £175,000 (US$235,125) from October 2024 to May 2025.

McKinnon added: “It is sad to see the demise of such an innovative drinks company with such great potential. The company still holds stock, amounting to around 17,400 of bottles of varying flavours and we are currently exploring opportunities to dispose of this stock to interested parties.”

Last May, the brand revealed a new bottle design and extended its range of flavours.

In 2023, Panther M*lk recruited two drinks industry professionals, Paul Miller and Neil Mowat.
