The Botanist Distiller’s Strength launches in UK
Following the gin’s debut in the US last year, Bruichladdich Distillery has now released The Botanist Distiller’s Strength in the UK.
The super premium expression, The Botanist Distiller’s Strength, features the brand’s signature 22 hand-foraged Islay botanicals at a higher strength of 50% ABV.
Created for bartenders looking to elevate cocktails such as the Negroni, the higher ABV is said to allow the gin to deliver increased natural oils – resulting in ‘intense flavour and sumptuous viscosity’.
Adam Hanne, head distiller at Bruichladdich Distillery, home of The Botanist gin, said: “We’ve experimented with a blend of The Botanist’s signature 22 botanicals at a new strength of 50% ABV.
“I was inspired by Bruichladdich Distillery’s long-practised art of bottling whisky at 50% ABV and at this strength, flavourful oils from distillation are enhanced, the viscosity is richer and it’s this richness that carries the flavours of the spirit.”
The gin offers ‘powerful’ notes of juniper, enhanced aromatic foraged botanicals and an intense herbaceous freshness’, making it suitable for gin-forward cocktails.

After initially being made available only in the US, the expression is now available in the UK from The Whisky Exchange, Master of Malt and Hedonism Wine & Spirits for around £39.50 (US$53).
According to IWSR data for 2023, The Botanist is the number four super premium gin in the world in in both volume and value.
The Bruichladdich Distillery, located on Islay is also the UK and Ireland’s fourth most popular whisky distillery, rated by visitors, according to The Cask Connoisseur survey.
