Is cassis the new star of the summer?
French liqueur producer Maison Cartron has created a cocktail called Cartron Cassis Crush as an alternative to the Spritz.

The ruby-red signature cocktail from Maison Cartron combines crème de cassis liqueur with lime juice, sparkling water, and a pinch of salt.
It was inspired by the French lifestyle and taste for aperitifs, and is said to offer ‘a fresh and elegant twist to summer terraces’. It also provides a lower-alcohol option for warm days.
The syrupy liqueur Crème de Cassis de Bourgogne Double Crème Joseph Cartron is a star of the cocktail, crafted from ripe Noir de Bourgogne blackcurrants harvested in the heart of the Grands Crus in Nuits-Saint-Georges, France.
The liqueur has an ABV of 19%, which in the signature cocktail drops to 3.8%.
The cocktail also has 127 calories, making it a relatively light serve, which the Burgundy-based producer hopes will become the next ultimate choice for the summer.
Are blackcurrant-based serves going to knock off the classic Spritz from the top spot for summer cocktails?
Maison Cartron invites consumers to taste the cocktail and make their own decisions.
