Will frozen cocktails be the drink of the summer?
By Melita KielyFrom frozen Daiquiris to Margaritas and Slushies, will ice-cold cocktails be the UK’s favourite alcoholic beverage this summer?
In April this year, Paragon Brands surveyed 2,000 adults in the UK to determine which drinks they would be choosing during the warmer months.
Almost a quarter (24%) of Britons cited alcoholic Slushies as their top boozy beverage of choice for the coming months.
The results also showed one-third (34%) of respondents would choose a frozen cocktail over a traditional serve.
Furthermore, 61% said a frozen version would be ‘more refreshing’ than the normal pour.
Younger demographics also appear to be favouring frozen drinks. Paragon Brands noted almost half of Gen Z drinkers (47%) stated alcoholic Slushies were their favourite summer drink, while nearly three-quarters (74%) preferred this type of cocktail compared with regular versions.
Geographically, coastal city Brighton showed a particular penchant for frozen cocktails. Almost eight in 10 (79%) people said they would drink an alcoholic Slushy this summer.
“We’re delighted to offer venues across the UK a risk-free way of offering frozen cocktails this summer, with a free machine, mix and three new alcoholic Slushies,” said Chris Jones, managing director of Paragon Brands.
“Our survey shows that Brits can’t get enough of frozen cocktails right now, so we’re sure they’ll be a huge hit with consumers.”
