Black Lines bottles Dirty Shirley

Ready-to-serve (RTS) cocktail company Black Lines has released a vodka-based version of the classic non-alcoholic Shirley Temple serve.

The original non-alcoholic cocktail is said to have been created at Chasen’s in West Hollywood for American child star Shirley Temple in the 1930s.

The serve is commonly made with ginger ale and grenadine, topped with a maraschino cherry.

Aiming to bring the non-alcoholic cocktail into the 21st century, the new Black Lines Dirty Shirley combines British Sapling vodka with grenadine, ginger ale, raspberry soda, lemon, blood orange, and bitters.

Offered at 7% ABV, the RTS cocktail is available in a 750ml bottle, which serves five 150ml servings for a recommended retail price of £18 (US$24). The ‘effervescent serve’ is also available on tap.

Black Lines was founded by Casey Sorenson and Kuleen Khimasia in 2017. The brand’s core range includes Spicy Tommy’s Margarita and Hugo Spritz.

Black Lines has also released limited edition expressions, such as a White Negroni in 2024 and an Oatnog for Christmas.

Earlier this year, the RTS brand reimagined one of its most popular cocktails as an Aperitivo Spritz.
