Lazy Dodo Rum adds VSOP to range
Grays-owned New Grove Distillery has expanded its Lazy Dodo range with a VSOP rum in tribute to its former managing director, Alain Vallet.

The ‘very superior old pal’ (VSOP) rum was aged for a minimum of four years in a combination of French oak, ex-Bourbon American oak, and ex-peated whisky casks.
Lazy Dodo VSOP pays tribute to the ‘spirit and passion’ of Grays’ former managing director.
Yannick Noel, business unit manager of rum and export at Grays, said: “Paying tribute to Alain Vallet is at the heart of the creation of Lazy Dodo VSOP. This tribute brings a deep authenticity and humanity to our approach, and we believe it will resonate strongly with our consumers.
“Today’s spirits lovers are looking for more than just a product: they want a story, an experience, a connection with the terroir and artisanal know-how. Lazy Dodo VSOP embodies this philosophy, offering a noble and sincere expression of Mauritian rum.”
The new expression was unveiled during an exclusive event at La Plage by Evaco in Trou aux Biches, Mauritius, on 27 March.
Lazy Dodo VSOP displays aromas of yellow fruit, pineapple, caramelised sugar, and sweet spices. On the palate, the rum offers notes of candied orange with light smoke, cinnamon, and citrus.
Noel continued: “In a growing global rum market, we are positioning Lazy Dodo VSOP as a premium rum that offers much more than just a drink: an authentic experience, a rich history, and superior quality.”
Last year, Lazy Dodo launched three flavoured rums: Grapefruit & Litchi with Pepper, Passionfruit & Mango, and Vanilla & Victoria Pineapple.
